human behavior

being a proud owner of a lovely iPod Classic, i have been re-realizing how amazing head phones are.
why they basicly do the same thing that regular run of the mill speakers do, they are so much better.
1} you can here the little things in headphones. i have been noticing that i here more detail in the songs than when just listening to speakers.
2} its nice to have headphones because not only are you listening to something that sounds good but you are also not listening to everything around you. tuning the world out, if you will.
3} which flows right into my final reason headphones are great, when your in public and people see that you have white wires coming out of your ears. they leave you alone. like when your walking in the mall and normally cellphone ppl would get your attention, or other people selling stuff. or when you are at a coffee shop getting the eye from the creep sitting a couple tables away.
head phones are just the universal "leave me alone" sign.
unless you share them of course.
and that is just a whole different area of human behavior.
by offering a head phone to someone you are saying "not only do i want to include you in my tuning out of the world i want you to experience this song with me."
ya. humans are great.

another weird thing that humans do is text when with friends. im not talking about a text here a text there, im talking about a full on convorsation while win public with a group of people. it always says something about the person to me. im not sure what. i think it says taht they would much rather be some where else or that they really dont care all that much to be where they are.
i guess that goes for headphnes too.
like i said i am ALL FOR headphones, but when you are with people, is it really that hard to not have them in?
