and Rilo Kiley for the past couple of days.
these bands are rather similar.
the vocals are good, but not phenomenal.
but their songs are filled with incredible one-liners that are like knifes to my songwriting mind.
both of these bands can do so many different styles of music.
i feel like they are both so raw and full of passion.
i am realizing that music is not always expressive. if you just look at music like it is just math and sound and that there are perfectly logical explanations for the way it effects people, then it really stops being a form of self expression.
if you stop expressing yourself and only do what is on the paper then... well i don't know what music is. but thats not the type of music that i love.
it seems to me that being that way with music is a bit lazy as a musician. by looking at music as only chords and only singing you are sort of shafting the entire experience.
and people can tell that you are not being sincere and honest with your music. and your feelings
