can we just have a moment?

can we just have a moment to revel in the greatness that is the new decemberists album?
Hazards of Love.
Ah they have done it again. this album is an entire story equipped with a pregnant girl, a shapeshifter and an evil queen and a really mean guy that kills his children. the images it paints are breath taking.
all i have to say, is "The wanting comes in WAVES"

can we also have a moment for kayaking?
i went kayaking at La Jolla the other day for the first time.
it was incredible.
who knew paddling in tiny boats next to large cliffs would be so inspiring? all i wanted to do was write poetry about the giant kelp forest that resided below us and the muted blue green of water and how the reddish brown of the kelp contrasted the water so beautifully.
my shoulders hurt so much the day after.
but it was worth it.

also
can we have a moment for random bamboo forests?

the other day, in the after noon. just as the sun turns golden. robby and i were driving down this long winding road in Lakeside.
This is considered to be the horse country. many fields, and horses and unkempt orchards.
the road is lined on one side with pomegranate trees and also with a barbed wire fence.
there is a tall silver silo with a tree growing out of it. at this time of year the tree is blooming and is bearing fruit. it is one of my favorite things about this road.
so we park by the beautiful silo. and lucky for us, the barbed wire was a bit neglected and it was just chilling on the ground.
so we walked passed the silo and on into a orchard of what look to be giant yellow rotting grapefruits. they were about the size of soccer balls. there were about three years worth of long dead grass on the ground which made the ground soft, and also a little perilous, because there were many holes.
carefully, to not step in holes covered by gnarly looking spider webs. the ground was soft from the layers and layers of dead grasswe make our way across the huge field. and we come to a road. on the other side of this road is what looks like an orchard of bamboo. a bamboo forest.
it is beautiful and lush. there are bunches of bamboo aligned just perfectly like tomb stones.
shaded, and hidden we played and walked around and were afraid of spiders. then we walked back
and when we got back to the car, we began trying to take all the stickers out of our shoes.
i still haven't got all of them
thinking back on it, it was nice to be in something that was so much bigger than me.
like the ocean, and kelp beds, and bamboo forests.
and to see that God just doesnt create beautiful things in the high sierras or in austraila or in yosemite. there are pretty things everywhere. one must explore.
thats enough moments for today.
